Senior School

Welcome to the Senior School at Victoria International School of Sharjah , which comprises of Grades 10, 11 and 12.  All courses offered to at our Central region campus draw from the Australian Curriculum, with student-centered, future-focused lessons designed to prepare students for their next steps in life, whether that be university or career orientated. Grade 10 serves as a foundation year before students enter the 2-year Global Citizenship Diploma in Grades 11 and 12.  

Senior School staff are tasked with delivering relevant, authentic learning and assessment that meets the need of each individual student, and ensuring that every young man and woman who graduates from VISS CR is successful in their chosen next steps in life.

The Global Citizen Diploma Progamme in Grades 11 & 12 is an academically rigourous and holistic programme that fosters lifelong learning in students and provides them with the qualifications necessary to pursue higher education at university.  From Grade 10 to 12, Senior School Students have the option to study a range of subjects within the areas of Science, Math, English, Humanities, Arts, Technology and Health / PE.  Alongside rigourous academic expectations, all classes at VISS CR  build a range of capabilities to support each student’s chosen academic pathway, including:

The Senior School at CR also recognises the importance of the Ministry of Education subjects, with Arabic, Islamic Studies and Moral Education continuing as compulsory subjects until the end of Grade 12.  Students are able to ensure that they have a strong, advanced knowledge of the language, the values and the heritage that are an essential part of Emirati culture and tradition.

The Senior School at Central Region offers a wide range of experiential learning opportunities to students to complement the learning in the classroom. Our Senior Students have the opportunity to engage with the community, participate in a range of activities and UAE academic competitions, as well as develop personally through award programmes such as the Sheikh Sultan Award and the Education the Heart Programme.  It is essential that students embrace those opportunities in order to have a holistic educational experience at VISS.

Every student will experience individualised career guidance and support with university choices and applications throughout their time in Senior School.  Advice is supported with a range of vocational and academic learning experiences, starting with a one-week work experience in Grade 10, career planning workshops, university visits and annual career fairs.  Each experience is tailored to ensure that students are making informed choices about their chosen careers and university pathways.  The formal curriculum, experiential learning opportunities and support available for senior students is tied with our vision to graduate students who are critical thinkers, confident, reflective and responsible global citizens, capable of facing the future with resilience and optimism.
